Bowl for Kids
Thanks Calgary! As the proud sponsor of this 19th annual event, we were proud to learn that this event raised over $285,000 for the kids!
A Hole in One!
Calgary Co-op hosted its 17th Annual Charity Golf Classic on June 9th at Heritage Pointe Golf and Country Club.
Our tournament raised over $274,000 bringing the grand total raised since 1993 to over $3.3 million! This year's recipients are the Calgary Zoological Society for the new Calgary Co-op Kids Zone and the Alberta Children's Hospital for their Bring in the Clown program.
On behalf of everyone at Calgary Co-op, we extend a special thank you to all the sponsors who made this event possible. Without their help and continuing support, we simply would not be able to raise the outstanding amount of funds we do for deserving local charities.
Stuff a Bus - A Record Year!
The 2009 Stuff a Bus holiday food drive held on November 28 was a huge success. Together, Calgary Co-op, Calgary Transit and for the second year in a row, XL 103 FM, were able to raise over $170,000 for the Calgary Food Bank - a record total for this event! Thank you to all Calgary and area residents who donated during Stuff a Bus. Your contributions will help ensure no family goes hungry this holiday season.

Answering the Humane Society's Plea for Help
On October 7th, Calgary Co-op responded to the Calgary Humane Society's request for donations for their Phoenix Program, which funds their animal surgical program. Calgary Co-op will present the Society with a cheque for $10,000, of which $9,000 was donated by caring members, customers and employees through our Bags to Riches shopping bag recycling program, and the remainder was provided through our corporate community investment program. Calgary Co-op Becomes Major Sponsor at the Calgary Zoo
As the exclusive sponsor of the New Kids Zone at the Calgary Zoo, Calgary Co-op will be donating $750,000 over the next five years to the Calgary Zoo to construct a new Calgary Co-op Kids Zone - a unique partnership opportunity that will carry on for the next 20 years.
The new Calgary Co-op Kids Zone opened on June 29th. Located near the elephant enclosure and main concession area at the zoo, this area will feature an animal conservation theme. The main attraction is a handcrafted wooden carousel with replicas of various animal species (some extinct; most endangered). The carousel also features our very own Co-oparoo kangaroo mascot as one of the figurines, along with other animals, including a Silverback gorilla. The children's train that tours around the zoo is also part of the Calgary Co-op Kids Zone and its new boarding station is located in this area.
